Recognition criteria

Years of relevant working experience is the pre-requisite for recognition under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism. The minimum years of relevant working experience required for each level are as follows.

Level 1 1 year of service in the Fashion industry
(including certain period of relevant experience)
Valid proof of relevant working experience*
Level 2 3 years of service in the Fashion industry
(Including certain period of relevant experience)
Level 3 5 years of service in the Fashion industry
(Including certain period of relevant experience)
Level 4
6 years of service in the Fashion industry
(Including certain period of relevant experience)
Valid proof of relevant
working experience
plus assessment

 * There is a 5-year transition period for each industry during which practitioners may apply for recognition of QF qualifications at levels 1 to 3 based on their past relevant working experience, without the need to take any assessments. The transition period for the Fashion industry will last until 31 December 2026.
