Years of relevant working experience is the pre-requisite for recognition under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism. The minimum years of relevant working experience required for each level are as follows.

* There is a 5-year transition period for each industry during which practitioners may apply for recognition of QF qualifications at levels 1 to 3 based on their past relevant working experience, without the need to take any assessments. The transition period for the Fashion industry will last until 31 December 2026.
