On 1 and 3 August 2011, Qualifications Framework Secretariat (QFS) held two briefing sessions to promote the development of SCS-based courses and the enhanced QFSS. Over 500 education and training providers as well as stakeholders of relevant industries attended the events.
SCS-based courses are developed with reference to the standards devised by the industry, i.e. the Specification of Competency Standards (SCS), and therefore best suit the need of the industry. Guest speakers including Dr T.M. Kwong of HKU SPACE, Mr William Tang of Hong Kong Association of Hair Design, Mr Winston Chow and Ms Daisy Liu of Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Ltd. shared their experiences in developing SCS-based courses and the benefits of it. A new development grant was also introduced under QFSS by the Education Bureau (EDB) to support course development based on the SCS.
The EDB also announced the enhancements to QFSS, including the scopes, eligibility criteria and levels of assistance, to encourage and better support education and training providers, employees and the industries to participate in QF.
