Seminar on Vocational Qualifications Pathway for Arboriculture & Horticulture Industry

Event Background:
In mid-2024, the Arboriculture and Horticulture ITAC launched a progression pathways brochure (Chinese version only), which included four main job levels in the industry. Each level detailed its core and specialised competencies, presenting a career development roadmap for the industry. The Secretariat also plans to introduce a comprehensive Vocational Qualifications Pathway for the A&H industry in Q4, 2025, further incorporating the UoC clusters of the five types under the Development Bureau's Registration System for Tree Management Personnel. This initiative aims to provide a QF-based information platform for job seekers, employees, and employers.

  1. Introduction to Career Progression Pathways:
    QFS representative shared updates on the implementation of the Qualifications Framework in the A&H industry, the application of progression pathways brochure, and the purpose and timeline for launching the Vocational Qualifications Pathway.
  2. Guest Sharing Session:
    Six industry practitioners from different job levels were invited to share their experiences of entering the industry, daily work content, and career development insights. The guest speakers included:

    • Mr. Darren CHEUNG (Chairman of the Horticultural and Arboricultural Trade Confederation)
    • Mr. Billy HO (Senior Landscape and Horticulture Attendant)

    • Mr. Oric CHAN (Assistant Horticulture Manager)
    • Mr. SC Mak (Horticulture Manager)
  3. Session Moderators:

  4. Promotion of RPL Mechanism:
    HKUSPACE, as the assessment agency for the A&H RPL mechanism, set up a booth at the event. Staff distributed RPL application forms and answer enquiries.
