The Qualifications Framework (QF) was officially launched on 5 May 2008. It aims to help Hong Kong people set clear goals and directions for continuous learning to obtain quality-assured qualifications. In the long run, it will help enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of the local workforce. The QF in Hong Kong is a seven-level hierarchy of qualifications covering the academic, vocational and continuing education sectors.

Establishment of "Elderly Care Service Industry Training Advisory Committee"
On 1st Feb 2012, the Education Bureau established the Elderly Care Service Industry Training Advisory Committee to facilitate the implementation of QF in the industry.

First edition of the Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) for the Communications and Information Services branch of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry
After industry-wide consultation on the draft from March to June 2001 organised by the ICT Industry Training Advisory Committee (ITAC), the SCS Drafting Subcommittee directed the Professional Writer to appropriately revise the draft based on comments collected during the consultation period, and the revised version was endorsed by the ICT ITAC. The first version of SCS for the Communications and Information Services branch is now available for downloading from this website.

The Briefing Session for Retail Industry
The Retail ITAC hosted a briefing session on 9 November 2011 to introduce the QF, programme accreditation and Qualifications Framework Support Schemes to the industry.

Consultation Session for the Elderly Care Service
Qualifications Framework (QF) Secretariat organized an industry-wide consultation session for Elderly Care Service on 2nd November 2011. About 100 representatives from the sector attended the successful event. All those present expressed their valuable views and positive support to QF launch for the sector.

RPL Kick-off Ceremony for the Automotive and the Jewellery Industries
The Deputy Executive Director of VTC, Miss Annie HO, and the Principal Assistant Secretary for Education, Miss Linda SO, officiated at the RPL Kick-off Ceremony for the Automotive and the Jewellery industries on 24 Oct 2011. The RPL mechanism for both industries will be launched on 15 Nov 2011 to enable employees to receive formal recognition of the knowledge, skills and experience already acquired
