2.6.2008	The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism commenced operation. Through RPL, employees may acquire formal recognition of their previous experiences, knowledge and skills acquired from work so that they may pursue further training without starting from scratch or to repeat training.
5.5.2008	The Education Bureau has introduced various financial support schemes to facilitate quality assurance of education and training providers and the programmes they offer.
5.5.2008	The Qualifications Register (QR) becomes officially operational. The QR is a free-of-charge web-based database on quality assured qualifications to help learners who wish to pursue further studies and to acquire QF-recognized qualifications.
5.5.2008	The Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap. 592) came into operation. The Qualifications Framework (QF) was officially launched on the same date. The QF is a cross-sectoral hierarchy covering both academic and vocational qualifications required by various industries. With unified standards of qualifications and clear indication of the articulation ladders between them, the QF enables citizens to set clear goals and direction for obtaining quality-assured qualifications.
1.10.2007	Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap. 1150) came into effect. Effective from the same date, the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation has been renamed as Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
