1. Knowledge of Timepiece Production
This covers basic knowledge of timepiece production, the production process of parts, and other production-related knowledge (e.g. use of computer to assist in design and production, processing of complete watch accessories, surface treatment, electroplating, watch assembly etc.).

This functional area covers primarily quality inspection and control for the production of timepieces. Watch and Clock practitioners should be able to ensure that the quality of their timepiece products meet customers' requirements and international standards, analyse and handle buyers' complaints on quality, and provide assistance in corporate quality control and related training.

5. Operational Management
This functional area covers knowledge of operational management, operational planning, and organization and control of complete watch and watch accessory factories as well as wholesale and retail companies, which are necessary for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the corporation. Regarding watch accessory factories, employees are expected to possess general knowledge of factory operation, including engineering management, finance, logistics and human resources management. Regarding outlet operation, employees are expected to possess basic knowledge of management on a range of subjects such as costing, human resources, logistics, promotion, commercial law and risk strategy.

7. After-sales Service
This functional area covers after-sales service and repair skills of ordinary timepieces. Practitioners are expected to be able to use various professional timepiece repair facilities and equipment correctly in any timepiece repairing work sites. They must also understand the safety guidelines and maintenance method of such facilities and equipment. In addition, they should also know the work strategies of repair centres in the region.
