Proposed by HITAC, the major functional areas of the industry shall mainly refer to hairdressing services in salons, and the sale of hairdressing products, tools and equipment. SCS may consist of these major functional areas:

The SCS has been moderated by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to ensure consistency of QF level across industries.
